Friends of Renal Care Glan Clwyd is a registered charity. Found in 2004, it marked the beginning of a new chapter at Glan Clwyd for renal care. A new, state-of-the-art unit had just opened, and supporters wanted a fresh start. They were determined that this wonderful facility would continue to serve the public well through future medical and technological advances.
Since 2004, the number of patients treated in the dialysis unit has increased significantly. Kidney transplant rates have also increased. Against this background, FORC has been instrumental in raising essential funds for much-needed equipment. Yet patients have also benefited from art classes, beauty therapy, computer workshops and free Wi-Fi. As well as better treatments, patients enjoy a better quality of life, all thanks to FORC.
Membership is automatically offered to all these suffering from renal disease and renal failure, as well as transplant patients, that are treated by the unit at Glan Clwyd. Families and friends are also enrolled.
FORC is managed by a committee of 12. Its operations are governed by established charity rules. The committee meets once a month and all members and their families are invited to attend.
